Penerapan Metode Debat Untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berfikir Kritis Siswa Kelas VI Pada Pelajaran PPKn
Abstract
This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of 6th grade students of Salman Al Farisi Elementary School, especially civic education subjects. It is caused by students’ least opportunity to practice critical thinking. To overcome it, researcher applied the debate method. The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation of the debate method in improving critical thinking skills. The design of this study was classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of one meeting for 70 minutes. Data collection was carried out with documentation and observations. Data analysis was performed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The results of the study, there was an increase in students critical thinking skills. It was 2.5 in pra study, increased to 3.04 in Cycle 1, and increased again to 3.65 in Cycle 2. This means an increase of 0.61 on a scale of 4. Students who were active in critical thinking were involved before 13 people in cycle 1 increased to 25 people in cycle 2. So there was an increase of 43.3%. Indicators for improving critical thinking skills are: 1) focus, 2) reason, 3) interface, 4) situation, 5) clarify and 6) overview.
