Abstract

Sustainable development can be achieved through education. The importance of integrating the principles of sustainable development in learning is to improve the quality of human life now and in the future. Factu- ally, learning in elementary school is not optimal in implementing the principles of learning that are orient- ed towards sustainable goals. It is seen from the indicators of learning that have not been environmentally oriented. In addition, the environment has not been used as a learning resource and has not linked local and global issues. The purpose of this study is to review the elementary school curriculum that is oriented to- wards the goal of sustainable education and implement it in integrated thematic learning in elementary schools. This study used a qualitative approach and was carried out in one of the elementary schools in Bandung. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews and documentation studies with ob- servation sheets, interview guidelines and curriculum documents as the instruments. The results show that in general, indicators that are derived from content standards can be linked to the goal of sustainable edu- cation. The principle in implementing ecopedagogy in learning is student-oriented, making the environment a source of learning, linking local and global issues and evaluating process and results.
